Okay, so, after nearly dying on my last project (Miracleman), I decided I needed to take the afternoon off and de-stress. The pieces turned out decent, but they stretched me so far, I needed a breather. Time to catch up on Deviant Art!

The semester has been amazing - it's pushed me into a new realm with my art. Still have a good distance to go, but I'm much closer than I was 8 weeks ago. Amazing what some great teachers will do.

For those considering Art School, I think the most important consideration is your learning style. I've heard some art graduates complain about what a waste it was and how they had to teach themselves everything. I think it's really a question of how you learn best.

Some people do much better teaching themselves - and more power to them, that's amazing. Me, I'm a "Show me once then go away" type of learner. I can toil for years to figure something out on my own, or I can just be shown once by someone who knows what they're doing and BAM! I've got it in my repertoire. Art school was the right decision for me, cause I learn better being taught and shown. I don't need a babysitter, just someone to point me in the right direction. My art in 8 weeks has improved more than it was in the last 2 years.

Got a lot of cool things planned for the semester break (writing a few new series and putting together some samples for editors) and for the next year. Will announce when I get closer.

Until then, go see The Social Network - it's freakin' brilliant.

I couldn't agree with you more. I'm really looking forward to the break and seeing how much I improve when I return to my webcomic and work on some sample pages too.

I'm definitely curious to see what you'll cook up over the break. Probably a graphic novel in a month with your speed! Haha!

Ha! That'd be awesome, wouldn't it? I'm planning at least 5-8 hours a day drawing, so we'll see what I can come up with. A few samples, for sure.

I'm going to try and get a few things written, though. The script for my thesis and finish another screenplay I started about two years ago that I haven't had time to complete.

That and read the stack of comics and How-To books that I have waiting for me.
