Sounds like a James Bond movie, right? NO! It's a cool new comic from Monkey Brain comics by Michael Moreci and my buddy Drew Zucker :iconfireclerk12:

In the vein of Scalped and Deadwood, it's a bleak western series. It's only NINETY-NINE CENTS for TWENTY-THREE PAGES of comic. When was the last time you got that great of a deal? Hell, Marvel charges $4 for a (sometimes less than) 20 page digital comic. What a rip.

Killer deal. Cool comic.

Buy it here.

So, we're getting into the final stretch of PLAYLIST and I've decided to offer a BONUS incentive for pledgers.

So, if you pledge at the $25 or higher level and send me the e-mail, I will do a 6x9 (ish) inked bust commission of the character of your choice and mail it to you separate from the Anthology.

Here's the deets:

1. PLEDGE NOW
2. Send me the e-mail from Kickstarter that registers your pledge to me at phillip (dot) sevy (at) gmail (dot) com
3. Let me know which character bust you want me to do
4. If the Kickstarter funds by March 17th (FIVE DAYS AWAY NOW), I'll draw you the commission and get it to you (expect it by the end of April/Early May)

Simple as that.

So, what are you waiting for - go pledge now! If you've already pledged at least $25 - send me the e-mail and I'll add you to the list. If you pledge at the 50, 74, 150, 200, or 300 level - we'll work out something even cooler than a 6x9 bust sketch.

Spread the word!

Hey Everyone,

Guess what? My yearly bliztkreig of promotion is beginning - ha! I've got a LOT of cool things coming up this year. Some I've been working on for quite a while and some I'm just starting.

Up first (and I'm quite excited about this) is the PLAYLIST ANTHOLOGY! It's over 200 pages of sequential work by yours truly and a collection of some of the best and up and coming artists out there. Who you might ask? Well, none other than artists like :iconmichaelharris: :iconarielakris: :iconerykkr: :iconjeeyon: :iconjorgecor: :iconlilithim: and many more.

What makes Playlist so cool? Each story in Playlist is entirely taken (all words and dialogue and themes) from songs of some of the best bands around. The whold anthology is like listening to a great mix tape with your eyes. How cool is that?

I'm posting a preview of the story I'm drawing and plotting momentarily so you can see the awesome upcomingness.

How can you get a copy of this amazing book you might ask? Well, it's simple - we're running a Kickstarter for it! Just click here and pledge some money. We've got some great prizes including original 6x9 sketches, pages of ORIGINAL ART, and full-sized commissions.

Thanks for the support! We really appreciate it. Spread the word, tell your friends, link on every social network you belong to and sit back and wait for the awesome Playlist.

Well, hello new followers and old followers! Crazy past few weeks here on the DA. It seems the little Disney Slave Leia's pic I drew for CBR's The Line It Is Drawn has blew up and been bouncing around the internet like a beach ball at a Nickelback concert. Very cool. What's even cooler is that I haven't posted it anywhere but here and CBR, so other people have been sending it all around. I'm constantly wondering where people are finding it that is bringing them here.

Well, welcome! I've got a bunch of stuff to post here shortly. I've been away for a bit because I've been working on a top secret creator-owned book - two of them, actually, but I'm only doing art for one (writing both, drawing one). I'll post a sneak-peak at some work here shortly and hope to have an announcement or two about publishers in the next few months. We'll see - fingers crossed!

I've also been up to my eyeballs in Christmas Commission work, which I'll be posting here, as well. Mainly people as Superheroes - which is a total blast to draw.

Thanks for stopping by and hopefully you enjoy what is to come!

"Scary Stories for the End of the World" is an awesome Halloween Web Anthology that I'm a part of this October.

We launched this week and will be posting new stories every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday until the week before Halloween. We've got some great work by some of the top up and coming artists today.

I won't ruin any of the surprises, so you'll just have to check it out and check back regularly.

Hey, the world is ending this year, so let's go out in style!

So, it's that time of year again - the beginning of CON SEASON!!!

Because of school, graduating, moving, and the new baby, I'll be doing less cons this year. In fact, the only one I'm planning on having a table at this year is MegaCon in Orlando, FL on February 17-19.

If you're going to be there, stop on by and say hey. I'll be doing commissions and selling prints too!

I know some of you got commissions from me last year and have mentioned more elaborate ones for this year, so if anyone wants to get on the list ahead of time (good idea cause last year I filled up fast), shoot me a message about what you want and I can give you a price (and get started before the show).

Hint: If I start it before the show, it'll probably end up a bit nicer than things done at the con. I love con sketching, but it can be a bit hectic and fast.

See you guys there!

Okay, so, over at Comicbookresources.com, they have a weekly feature called "The Line is Drawn" where they have a set group of artists do a piece from viewer-suggested tweets. Three of their artists are leaving the blog and they're holding tryouts for their open spots.

I'm trying out.

Please vote for me.

And tell your friends.

Thanks!

Vote here. I'm in the second list. Search for my name, check the box next to it, and click "vote"!

Then tell your friends.

This October I'm teaming with other awesome artists :iconthecaybo:, :iconmichaelharris:, and :iconstollichnakov: for a short webanthology.

It's titled Four Chills and will feature four short stories, posting a page a day until Halloween. Be sure to check it out, follow it, bookmark it, and come back everyday.

You won't be disappointed.

Since it's the cool thing to post (as nearly everyone I follow on here is posting), I'll be at NYCC this week. Can't wait to visit The City again and go to a really cool convention.

I'll be there Thurs-Sat, so hope to see you then.

Also, I will be willing to sign any Ron Lim comics, as well.

So, I'm on a short break from school. In addition to a million things, I want to take some suggestions for fun, draw them, and post them here.

Any takers?

I'll take five suggestions, and draw them each morning as a warm up for the day. School got super stressful at the end of last quarter, so I want to find a way back to enjoying drawing a bit more - ha!

So, it's been a while. I don't really post many journals here cause I talk a lot on facebook, blogs, and twitter. But, thought I'd pop in for an update.

VOTE VOTE VOTE! For the fun things in life. Every so often, the weekly sketch blog I contribute to, Periodic Heroes, will post a poll for readers/viewers to decide what theme we should do next. Right now we have a poll from Book Series. So, if you LOVE Twilight and want to see a bunch of insanely talented artists (and me) draw them, VOTE. If you HATE Twilight and would rather kick a child than see more people give in to the insanity, vote AGAINST IT. Vote here.

Also, I'll be at Baltimore Comic Con, August 20-21, table A95 with David Stoll :iconstollichnakov:. The uber talented Max Young :iconthecaybo: and Lee Harris :iconmichaelharris: will be right next to us. As usual, I'll be doing commissions and selling prints, sketchbooks, and mini-comics. Stop by and at least say "Hi" if you'll be at the show.

This weekend is HeroesCon in Charlotte, NC. I'm SO excited for this con. I've been hearing about it for years and I'm finally going to be there. I'll have a table with :iconthecaybo: and :iconmichaelharris:. We'll be at SP-46. It's in the back corner in Artist's Alley.

I'll have prints and mini-comics for sale (including the brand new "Tabula Rasa" comic) and be drawing commissions. It's going to be a blast!

Hey Everyone,

With HeroesCon coming up, I'm opening up 5 commissions slots. If you're going to HC, you can pre-order and pick it up at the show. Or, if you wish you were, you can order one here, and I'll ship it to you.

Basic pencil sketch on a 9x12 is $10. If you'd like multiple characters/ink/tones/larger size, price will vary.

Get them while you can - I only have 5 open slots right now before the show.

Also - if you're going to HeroesCon - I'll be there at my table with the amazing Chris "Call me Max" Young :iconthecaybo: and the always cool Lee "I'm not Theo" Harris :iconmichaelharris:. We'll be open for commissions/sketches, with prints, minicomics, postcards, sketchbooks, and Team America sing-alongs.

I'll have prints of the following:
Thundercats, Green Lantern vs Sinestro, Thor, Wonder Women, X-Men, Green Lantern and Star Sapphire.

Hey Everyone,

Just a quick note - if you're not regularly checking out Periodic Heroes, you're sorely missing out. We've had some great themes as of late with some amazing art. Get on over there before you miss out on everything.

Also, yours truly and :iconstollichnakov: will have a table at Baltimore Comic Con this August 20-21st. :iconthecaybo: and :iconmichaelharris: will have a table as well. As always, we'll be doing awesome sketches, selling prints and sketchbooks, and have copies of the upcoming Cannon anthology we'll be featured in. Stay tuned for more details on that (but you heard it here first).

And, just for fun, I'm opening up commissions. Each commission will depend on the size/scale/difficulty of the piece, so just shoot me a message if you're interested and I can quote you a price.

Thanks and later!

Well, MegaCon came and went and my first convention with a table was AWESOME. I shared my table with :iconthecaybo: and :iconmichaelharris: and sat next to :iconjenchuan:.

Friday was a good warm up and Saturday and Sunday were utter madness. From the moment I sat down until the con closed (and for a few hours Saturday night back at the hotel), I was drawing commissions for people. It was insane and insanely fun(!). Because things were moving so fast, I didn't really get a chance to snap pics of any of my commissions except for this one.

Because of my banner/prints/postcards I was able to meet a ton of really cool Green Lantern fans. MegaCon had more Cosplay than any other convention I've ever been to - it was SO cool.

Well, it was a good primer for HeroesCon in June and Baltimore Con in August (both of which, I'll have tables).

See you guys then!

I need to use this journal thing more often... Well, this weekend kicks of Convention Season for me. To inaugurate the year, I'm heading to Orlando for MegaCon! If you're coming, stop of by and say "Hi!" I'll be in Artist's Alley with :iconthecaybo:.

I'll have a bunch of cool things for sale at my table. I'll have four prints for sale. You've seen them here, but you'll want to see them in person, trust me. Green Lantern, The X-Men, Wonder Women, and Thor. I'll also have a new mini-comic (a first for me) featuring my Wise Man story. I'm also putting together a sketchbook with art never-before-seen.

In addition to all that goodness, I'll be taking commissions at the show. If you're planning on going and want to get on my list ahead of time, shoot me a message.

So, yeah, big stuff! I'll also be at HeroesCon in Charlotte this June, SDCC in July, Boston Comicon in August, and NYCC in October. I'll update more about those shows when they get close.

If you haven't checked out Periodic Heroes lately, get on over there! We've got a great roster of artists and new themes every week.

That's all for now, folks!

Okay, so we're launching this bad boy.

PERIODIC HEROES ([link] is a weekly sketch blog that a handful of great artists I know are starting this year. As a break from the regular grind and a chance to draw something new, we're picking a character/comic/theme each week and drawing our version of it.

We're launching this week, so art will be coming in, but bookmark the page and visit it weekly (and spread the word).

Here are some of the artists participating:

And more!

This should be a great year.

On another note, the semester break is over. It's been great and I've gotten a lot done. I've gotten nearly 15 pages inked for my Heartless Dark story. I'll post them when I get the pages finished and uploaded. It's been fun. Been trying some new inking techniques.

I've also been writing a ton and have a handful of cool new projects in the works.

Mainly, I'm excited to get back to school so I can receive a hand in getting better. I do it faster with a great teacher. I've got some great ones this term, so I can't wait to see where I end up in 10 weeks.

Stay tuned.

And check out Periodic Heroes and spread the word!

So, school is out for the semester and I could write an entire post about what I've learned, but I'll save that for another day. With school on break, I made a list of things I want to do and I thought I'd share it - cause then it makes me accountable.

1. Draw a 4-page Magnus sample for Dark Horse - DONE
2. Finish first draft of "The Visitor" script - DONE (118 pages)
3. Write script for a 15-page Heartless Dark epilogue - DONE
4. Draw and Color 15-page epilogue
5. Letter epilogue
6. Draw a 6 page sample for Marvel
7. Begin rewriting The Visitor

So, yeah, I've still got a lot to do in the next month. WIsh me luck!

Okay, so, after nearly dying on my last project (Miracleman), I decided I needed to take the afternoon off and de-stress. The pieces turned out decent, but they stretched me so far, I needed a breather. Time to catch up on Deviant Art!

The semester has been amazing - it's pushed me into a new realm with my art. Still have a good distance to go, but I'm much closer than I was 8 weeks ago. Amazing what some great teachers will do.

For those considering Art School, I think the most important consideration is your learning style. I've heard some art graduates complain about what a waste it was and how they had to teach themselves everything. I think it's really a question of how you learn best.

Some people do much better teaching themselves - and more power to them, that's amazing. Me, I'm a "Show me once then go away" type of learner. I can toil for years to figure something out on my own, or I can just be shown once by someone who knows what they're doing and BAM! I've got it in my repertoire. Art school was the right decision for me, cause I learn better being taught and shown. I don't need a babysitter, just someone to point me in the right direction. My art in 8 weeks has improved more than it was in the last 2 years.

Got a lot of cool things planned for the semester break (writing a few new series and putting together some samples for editors) and for the next year. Will announce when I get closer.

Until then, go see The Social Network - it's freakin' brilliant.
